Job Description:

The Red Hat Products and Technologies (PnT) team is looking for a Software Engineer Intern across various technologies and domains including software development, quality engineering (QE), system administration, and site reliability engineering (SRE) to join us in Pune, India. In this role, you will contribute value to Red Hat through the enhancements and new features of internal systems as part of an agile and globally distributed product development team. You’ll also get the opportunity to work with many technologies, including Java, JavaScript, Python, Perl, administration of Jira or Bugzilla, test automation frameworks, managed cloud, Red Hat OpenShift, and Docker.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain features on multiple Red Hat’s platforms and offerings
  • Write unit and integration tests to ensure application quality and maintainability
  • Write automated test scripts, analyze test results and identify and file bugs, test bugs, and write bug reproducers
  • Actively work to automatically detect potential issues in a large virtualized environment
  • Write automation scripts to autocorrect or completely prevent issues in our online offering
  • Serve as a system administrator responsible for maintaining JIRA or Bugzilla configurations and supporting customer requests
  • Manage and maintain Jira users and account management
  • Develop software that contributes to Red Hat’s modern machine translation and analysis platforms
  • Work with other engineering teams using the agile methodology

Required skills:

  • Ability to learn about software systems by exploration and experimentation
  • Good object-oriented programming concepts
  • Knowledge of any one programming language
  • Knowledge of basic web technologies
  • Keen observation skills and attention to detail
  • Motivated with the ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
  • Interest in learning new technologies; problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
